NBA Betting -- CJ's PLAY: Warriors After 12th Straight Hosting T-Wolves

By Charles Jay

The Golden State Warriors are drawing a bead on clinching home-court advantage throughout the NBA playoffs, and they can take another step toward that on Tuesday night as they play host to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a game that begins at 10:35 PM ET at the Oracle Arena in Oakland. If you are a BetDNA customer, you have the opportunity to get the best parlay odds and the best teaser odds, along with live betting, so that you can be part of the action after the game tips off.

Golden State is now 63-14 on the season, and the last victory was emphatic, as they beat Washington 139-115. Steph Curry exploded for 42 points, and Draymond Green had his 19th career triple-double. The Warriors hit 16 three-pointers, nine of them from the reigning two-time MVP.

Minnesota is out of the playoff race with its 31-45 record, but they are still swinging. On Monday night, they hurt Portland's playoff chances with a 110-109 victory, and Karl-Anthony Towns was the main man, with 34 points and 12 rebounds. Minnesota still has some steps to take to become a contender, but many observers are optimistic, because Tom Thibodeau, who might yet instill a defensive work ethic into this team, is the man in charge. But the Wolves have allowed 50% shooting or better in six of their last 10 games. They have also been trending toward the "over" during that time, to the tune of 9-1-1.

In the NBA betting odds posted on this game by the folks at BetDNA, the Warriors are 14-point favorites, with a total of 218 points.

Yes, Golden State is fully capable of covering this number, because they are superior on the defensive end. They have also been shooting well lately, hitting at least half their shots in seven of their last 10 outings. These teams have played three times this season, and after the Warriors won the first two, Minnesota bit back on March 10, winning 103-102 at the Target Center. The T-Wolves have been a "tough out" for many playoff teams down the stretch, but Golden State looks to be on a roll right now, and their magic number to clinch the top seed is three at the moment. Kevin Durant may even be back in action before the regular season ends.

The way we look at this game, it's kind of sort of a battle of totals. We mentioned Minnesota and its trend of late, but Golden State has been a pretty good under play all season long (47-29-1). They have also played 22 of their 36 games against losing teams under the total, and there is something to be culled from that as well. Plus, their own the current run is 11-2-1 to the "under." This has pretty much coincided with their winning streak, indicating that when they are at their best, it is because they play excellent defense. They are, in fact, second in the league in Defensive Rating, and if they are looking for a little payback after being beaten in the last meeting, it might be because they are able to severely slow down these Timberwolves, who are playing the back end of back-to-back games. So, in a small recommendation, we're going the same way all three previous meetings have, which means UNDER the total in this one.
